Food & Drink
For Elena and Aidan, sustainability is not only a fad but a way of life. For this reason, they wanted to be as eco-conscious in their wedding planning as possible, including fashion choices, limited vehicle emissions, and, of course, the food they choose to be served to their guests.
It was for this sustainable purpose that the couple was drawn to Gravitas DC, a restaurant and caterer located in Northeast D.C. This kitchen was highlighted in multiple publications for its creations that are not only delicious but sustainably made with locally-sourced ingredients.

Aesthetics
At a highly photographed event like a wedding, it's important that the food is delicious, ethical, and beautiful. Gravitas delivers on all three.
Flexibility
Though the guestlist for this wedding is small, the couple is aware that several vegetarians will be in attendance. They wanted to ensure a positive experience for all of their guests.

An example of a fall menu, similar to what can be expected at Aidan and Elena's upcoming nuptials.
Beverages
Guests will be able to enjoy ample water and soft drinks as part of their catered reception meal. Alcohol, however, will be served at the cash bar. This decision was made by the couple primarily as a cost-saving measure. They were concerned about the overall cost of an alcohol purchase, as well as potential overbuying due to some of their guests living a sober lifestyle.
For this reason, the wedding will function on a cash bar basis. The couple did, however, set up a small $200 tab with the venue to cover the costs of their own indulgences. This way the couple does not need to be concerned with carrying cash on them during their wedding day.

Let them eat...
...cupcakes!
In light of their smaller guest list, it made more sense to Elena and Aidan to offer their guests cupcakes at the end of the night. This more budget-friendly option is likely to create less waste in the long run, compared to a more traditional tiered or sheet cake. Elena fell in love with this crystal-inspired design that tied in perfectly with the other elements of spirituality the couple had already planned for their ceremony.
Once again, it remained a priority for the couple to support smaller businesses with their wedding dollars. The CakeRoom comes highly reviewed on the major wedding site and once they had a taste for themselves, they couldn't resist. This vendor also has the added advantage of being located in D.C. itself; a huge help when transporting sweet treats to eager guests!
